Veritas House has secured a 5 year contract with the NSW Government to deliver Families Together from 1 July 2026. The Families Together Program is 1 of 4 programs under the NSW Government’s Family Preservation initiative and is funded through the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
The Family Preservation Program is designed to support children and young people to remain safely at home with their families, while reducing the need for entry into out-of-home care (OOHC) or ongoing involvement with the child protection system.
Families Together is a voluntary program that works in partnership with families to build on their existing strengths, enhance parenting confidence, improve family functioning, and support safe, stable and nurturing home environments for children and young people.
Support is tailored to the individual needs of each family and may include parenting support and skill development, child development and wellbeing assessments, practical in-home support, advocacy, referrals and connections to community services, and strategies to strengthen family relationships and safety. Services are generally provided for up to 12 months, with the level and intensity of support determined collaboratively with each family.
CEO of Veritas House, Jody Pearce, said the new program aligns strongly with the organisation’s long-standing commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young people and families.
“We are privileged to have been selected to deliver Families Together across Bathurst, Orange, Cabonne, Blayney and Oberon Local Government area. Early intervention and family-centred support can make a significant difference in helping children remain safely at home, while strengthening family relationships and resilience,” Ms Pearce said.
Ms Pearce said the program is a natural extension of the work that Veritas House already do in the community.
“Families Together builds on Veritas House’s existing work with children, young people and families. We look forward to working in partnership with families and community partners to achieve positive and lasting outcomes for children and young people.”
