This week is National Homelessness Week, with the theme being “Homelessness Action Now” , so we decided that it was the perfect time to move beyond awareness and into action—and today, we are proud to be doing just that. Today we officially launched our plans, in partnership with Orange Uniting Church, to renovate and transform a former Kindergarten Hall into a multi-purpose Supported Temporary Accommodation and Transitional housing property to provide a safe, secure and supported housing pathway for young people and young families aged 17-25.
The project, which will be funded by a $500,000 Homelessness Innovation Fund (HIF) grant from Homes NSW under the Reforming Temporary Accommodation program, was launched by our CEO Jody Pearce and Reverend Andrew Cunningham from Orange Uniting Church, who both spoke about the significant numbers of people in Orange and Bathurst who this property will support.
Thanks goes out to adaptive ARCHITECTS Pty Ltd, who have been thoughtfully designing the space to meet the needs of young people and we cannot wait to share the project as it unfolds.
